FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Bosch Community Fund recently awarded more than $124,000 in grants to school districts and organizations in the Mount Prospect, Illinois, area. The four grants fund education programs focused on student engagement in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and professional development for teachers. By investing in STEM curricula, materials and teacher training, the Bosch Community Fund aims to have a positive impact on the lives of students in the community.
“Robert Bosch Tool Corporation is proud to continue our community partnerships with the Mount Prospect Library Foundation, River Trails School District 26 and Mount Prospect School District 57,” said Roger Amrol, president and CEO, Robert Bosch Tool Corporation North America. “It is imperative that learning extends past the classroom, and with the combined efforts of RBTC and the Bosch Community Fund recipients, we are building essential skillsets for student success.”
The grants support organizations and initiatives that offer after-school programs, expose students to STEM concepts and offer STEM-related tutoring. The Bosch Community Fund awarded grants to the following organizations:
• Mt. Prospect Library Foundation’s Tutor.com: A Library Partnership for Student Success – $7,000
• River Trails School District 26’s STEM for All program – $75,000
• Mt. Prospect School District 57’s STEAM Initiative – $10,385
• District 214 Education Foundation’s Next Generation Engineers-Buffalo Grove High School Middle School STEM Program – $31,641
“The Mt. Prospect-area grant program has provided the financial resources for our high schools to start their middle school STEM outreach programs – Next Generation Engineers,” said Marcella M. Reca Zipp, director, grants and special programs,
High School District 214. “This after-school program allows our future high school students to use the labs and equipment in the high school, meet their high school teachers, be mentored by high school students, and develop interest and excitement about pursuing STEM college and career pathways when they become high school students. Our staff has also had more opportunities to volunteer with our high school students on projects such as a Soldier's Journey Home and our FIRST Robotics Wildstangs team.”
The Bosch Community Fund provides grants in U.S. communities where Bosch has locations. Since 2015, the Bosch Community Fund has awarded more than $324,026 to schools and organizations in the Mount Prospect, Illinois, area.
