Bosch Community Fund awards grants to organizations in West Memphis, Arkansas, area for hands-on STEM and environmental sustainability programs

- In 2017, Bosch Community Fund awarded more than $39,000 in grant funding to schools and organizations in the West Memphis, Arkansas, area

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Bosch Community Fund recently awarded more than $39,000 in grants to schools and organizations in the West Memphis, Arkansas, area. The four grants fund student engagement in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), robotics and environmental sustainability.

By investing in hands-on programs, the Bosch Community Fund aims to increase the educational opportunities available to students in the West Memphis area. The grants will improve student and instructor access to regional resources, demonstrating the Bosch Community Fund’s commitment to supporting local STEM education and careers.

“It’s an honor for Bosch’s West Memphis Distribution Center to be able to assist the community in which we operate and our associates live by awarding funds to local schools and programs,” said Virgil Roberson, physical distribution director at Robert Bosch Tool Corp. in West Memphis. “The Bosch Community Fund grants enable the enrichment and sustainability of lives through a dedication to STEM and other community-focused programs. It is our desire that such programs will foster a positive learning environment and yield a return on investment within the community we serve.”

The recent grants support initiatives that provide technical training, robotics workshops, environmental sustainability programs and hands-on STEM activities for students of all ages. The Bosch Community Fund awarded grants to the following organizations:
- Faulk Elementary School’s FIRST Lego League program – $15,000
- Mid-South Community College Foundation’s Lifting STEM Careers Program – $14,400
- Jackson Elementary School’s Robotics Academy – $5,800
- Producing Outstanding People’s POP! Explore! STEM Academy – $4,000

At Producing Outstanding People’s POP! Explore! STEM Academy, the Bosch Community Fund grant supports a summer bridge program for students moving from elementary school to middle school. The academy offers hands-on STEM activities that promote environmentally sustainable solutions.

The Bosch Community Fund provides grants in U.S. communities where Bosch has locations. Since 2015, Bosch Community Fund has awarded more than $109,000 to schools and organizations in the West Memphis area. Annually, the Bosch Community Fund awards up to $5 million in grants to organizations invited to participate in the program.
