Bosch Community Fund awards grants to Dallas-area school districts, enhances access to STEM education, supports teacher development

-In 2017, Bosch Community Fund awarded nearly $79,000 in grants to school districts in the Dallas area
-Three grants fund community education programs focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and technical learning topics

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Bosch Community Fund recently awarded $78,870 to school districts in the Dallas area, where Bosch’s Climatec subsidiary has operations. Acquired by Bosch in 2015, the company is a leading provider of advanced building technologies and energy-efficiency solutions. The three grants fund science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and technical learning programs. Offering an array of learning opportunities, the grant recipients demonstrate a commitment to STEM education that aligns with the Bosch Community Fund’s core values.

“Grants from the Bosch Community Fund support the growing STEM education programs tremendously,” said Stuart King, Climatec senior sales construction executive for K-12 and municipal markets. “The grants are funding programs that enhance technology and creative skills, and provide resources for teacher development. It is very exciting to be a part of the Bosch Community Fund process and witness the positive impact on the Dallas-area school districts.”

This year’s grant recipients place an emphasis on improving access to education resources for students and educators alike. The following organizations received support from the Bosch Community Fund:
• Lewisville Independent School District (LISD) Summer STEM Camp – $19,020
• Northwest Independent School District’s Do You Know Lynda program – $37,000
• Rockwall Independent School District’s Aligning Engineering for a Well-Articulated Future – $22,850

“Career Center East’s partnership with the Bosch Community Fund allowed over 90 LISD students to experience STEM Camp 2017,” said Jeff Wagley, principal at Career Center East, Lewisville Independent School District. “The contribution allowed students to explore, create and discover the power of hands-on learning in STEM. Students were not only learning concepts but were challenged to broaden their thinking and creativity. We cannot wait to see the positive impact this summer learning has on these kids’ futures.”

The Bosch Community Fund provides grants in U.S. communities where Bosch has locations. Annually, the Bosch Community Fund awards up to $5 million in grants to organizations invited to participate in the program.
