Daytona Beach, Fla. – You wouldn’t leave home without your cell phone, and neither do race cars. Today, race cars operate on large amounts of data and software being transferred in real-time while they are on track. Thus, a robust system by the company that brought telemetry to racing nearly 30 years ago is needed to transform this data into actionable insights for the series, teams, and competitors.

In 2024, the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) will implement the cutting-edge RaceConnect cloud-based data hub platform and the LTE65 in car telemetry modem from Bosch for its GTD and GTD PRO classes as well as continuing their use in GTP.

“This collaboration continues building the new era of data-driven excellence in motorsports,” said IMSA President John Doonan. “IMSA continues to evolve, advance, and utilize the best technology available.”

In March 2023, Bosch and IMSA announced a five-year corporate partnership to further leverage Bosch’s electronics and mobility expertise to enhance vehicle performance, improve safety and create a more equitable and robust racing experience.

Through the use of Bosch’s LTE65 modem and RaceConnect platform, IMSA and Bosch will enable live calculations of performance indicators, live data integrations for competition management, and improved monitoring of regulation parameters and scrutineering functionality.

“Bosch Motorsport is proud to help advance telemetry beyond the GTP field to the GTD and GTD PRO class allowing IMSA and the teams to become more agile, connected, and efficient,” said Jacob Bergenske, director of Bosch Motorsport, North America.

“RaceConnect enables data-driven decisions to create more exciting and safer races,” Bergenske said. “The Bosch Motorsport suite of advanced analytics software does just that by giving teams accurate insights into the race strategy, driver, and car performance. This is all enabled by Bosch’s cloud-based platform, RaceConnect, so this living ecosystem of data can be constantly monitored and adjusted.”
