FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Bosch Community Fund recently awarded more than $50,000 in grants to organizations in the Kentwood, Michigan, area. The seven grants fund student engagement in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and environmental education.

The Bosch Community Fund strives to ensure that creative and practical STEM learning opportunities are accessible to students through project-based experiences. This grant will provide STEM resources for teachers and increase student access to hands-on STEM programs, demonstrating the Bosch Community Fund’s commitment to supporting education in the Kentwood area.

“Bosch is committed to helping local students pursue successful careers in STEM and improve our environmental conditions,” said Jim Hagene, plant manager at Bosch in Kentwood. “These schools and organizations are creating dynamic, future-focused learning environments that will enrich our community.”

These grants will fund several STEM camps, a coding workshop for elementary-school students, robotics kits for high-schoolers and a greenhouse project to help restore the Plaster Creek watershed. The Bosch Community Fund awarded grants to the following organizations:

  • West Michigan Aviation Academy’s VEX® Robotics Kits and Curriculum – $8,436
  • Grand Rapids Urban League’s The Beauty of Science: Our Girls Rock STEM – $8,000
  • Kentwood Public Schools’ Inquiry Based Science – $8,000
  • Kent ISD’s Coding for Elementary – $7,980
  • Kent ISD’s STEM Summer Camps – $5,900
  • Grand Valley State University’s STEPS Camp for Girls – $7,000
  • Calvin College’s Plaster Creek Stewards – $5,000

The Bosch Community Fund provides grants in U.S. communities where Bosch has business locations. Since 2014, Bosch Community Fund has awarded more than $230,000 to schools and organizations in the Kentwood area. Annually, the Bosch Community Fund awards up to $5 million in grants to organizations invited to participate in the program.
